The Classic Definition of IBS

According to Rome iii criteria IBS is present when

??? Abdominal pain or discomfort is associated with two of the three following features:

1- Relieved with defecation
2- Onset associated with change in form of stool
3- Onset in associated with change in frequency of stool

??? Absence of structural or metabolic abnormalities to explain symptoms

??? Duration of symptoms At least 3 days per month, in the last 3 month, for at least 6 month

??? Supporting symptoms includes urgency, gas, bloating and passing mucus per rectum, and a sensation of incomplete evacuation of loose stool or more frequent stool with some relief.
